U.S. Intermediate Support Base Long Phu (1967-1971)

Long Phu, located at the mouth of the Bassac River in the Mekong Delta, served as a logistic facility for American and Vietnamese river and coastal units during the Vietnam War. As an intermediate support base, Long Phu provided smaller operating bases in the region with fuel, maintenance, administration, and supplies, As part of the Vietnamization program, the installation was turned over to the Vietnamese Navy in September 1971, and American Naval Forces withdrew from the area.
