Not a War Story

More than a memoir or biography, this is an intersection of two lives and the turbulent times of the late 1960s. This is a story of the author’s father, LCDR Eugene Whitt, USN (Ret) who served in Vietnam from 1968-1969 as the commander of a group of patrol boats along the rivers of the Mekong Delta.

The joint Army and Navy Mobile Riverine Force played a small but significant role during the Vietnam War. The author talks about her father’s time in Vietnam, shares excerpts from 50 letters he wrote to her mom and includes a 10,000-word manuscript he wrote about his time in-country.

Included are stories from her life during that time as well as commentary on historic events; assassinations, moon landing, Woodstock and more.
