U.S. Patrol Boat Base Hoi An (1969-1971)

USFlag.thin

This South Vietnamese coastal city was the site of a U.S. patrol boat base during the Vietnam War. Located at the mouth of the meandering Cua Dai River south of Danang, Hoi An was well placed to support patrols inland by the river patrol boat units based there. In keeping with the thrust of the Vietnamization program, the base was turned over to the Vietnamese Navy in 1971.
