This town in South Vietnam’s Mekong Delta region, was the site of one of the Navy’s Advanced Tactical Support Bases during the Vietnam War. River patrol boats units taking part in Operation SEALORDS strategy of interdicting communist infiltration from Cambodia received basic supplies, such as fuel, food, and ammunition from the facility. The Advanced Tactical Support Base was turned over to the Vietnamese Navy in April 1971, after more than two years of American operations, when U.S. forces withdrew from the combat area.
